Kalwant Bhopal is a Professor of Education and Social Justice and Deputy Director of the Centre for Research in Race & Education (CRRE) at the University of Birmingham. Her research explores how processes of racism, exclusion and marginalisation operate in predominantly white spaces with a focus on social justice and inclusion.
In this video, Prof Bhopal talks about her book “White Privilege: The Myth of a Post-Racial Society” with Dr Manali Desai (Reader in Sociology, University of Cambridge), and together they examine evidence on the representation of BME staff and students in higher education and explore how racism, exclusion and marginalisation continue to disadvantage these groups.
