Racism and the University: reflections on the (in)visibility of racism in higher education

The co-chair of the Decolonise Sociology working group – Dr Mónica Moreno Figueroa – is giving a presentation at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, focussed in part on the work of this working group.

The event description reads as follows: “The purpose of this Seminar is to provide a dialogue on the decolonisation of sociology from the results of the End Everyday Racism project at the University of Cambridge. This initiative is an independent research project developed by Ella McPherson and Mónica Moreno Figueroa, Department of Sociology, University of Cambridge. The project aims to generate, on the one hand, knowledge about how everyday racism works in a higher education institution, such as the University of Cambridge. On the other hand, this project aims to contribute to the reflection on the work of anti-racist activism of students and staff at the University, boosting the agenda of institutional change.”
