We’re supporting a new series of workshops through Lent and Easter term to explore creative methodologies and are inviting MPhils, PhDs and postdocs to participate!
About the series
These workshops focus on creative methodologies as alternative ways of being, thinking, and doing within the academy. Our aim is to foster a collaborative space where doctoral students and creative practitioners can come together to experiment, innovate, and reimagine the ways in which research is conducted and expressed.
By inviting a diverse group of poets, graphic novelists, creative writers, artists, and filmmakers to lead semi-structured workshops, we seek to challenge traditional academic practices. Together, we aim to explore new methods of expression and representation, unlocking fresh perspectives for engaging with complex, multi-layered, and intersectional topics. We hope this space can cultivate transformation and collective healing.
2025 Theme
Our theme for 2025 is: Interconnected Oppressions: Exploring Intersectional Experiences through Creative Expressions. Through this theme we hope to understand how creative methods can help researchers grapple with intersectional oppressions and create spaces for transformation and healing. This project will be co-convened by PhD students (University of Cambridge) Ayanda Mhlongo and Seetha Tan and supported by the Global Racisms Institute for Social Transformation (GRIST), led by Professor Mónica Moreno Figueroa.
Meetings
Our sessions will be held online via Zoom at 10AM (GMT/UK time). We will be convening two sessions for Lent which will be held on the following dates:
- Wednesday, 26 Feb
- Wednesday, 12 March
